The AM/PM of Beer Bars: Too Much Good Stuff

Daily Pint | July 30, 2009

This has been a huge week for new beers at the Daily Pint.  We’ve got so many new selections going up, you won’t want to miss this weekend.

BBXXI-Simple040709First, let’s start from the beginning.  On Sunday, we tapped some Dogfish Head 90 Minute and a keg of Deschutes Black Butte XXI.  This is a doubled-up version of their regular Black Butte, which is then aged in whiskey barrels, commemorating the brewery’s 21st anniversary.  From the Deschutes website:

This special Reserve Series release is a colossal version of Black Butte Porter. Our brewers enhanced Black Butte XXI by adding some Theo’s Chocolate cocoa nibs from Seattle, dry-hopping it with 100 pounds of Bellatazza’s locally roasted coffee, and then aging a portion of it in Stranahan’s Colorado whiskey barrels. These regional partners provided quality artisan ingredients that give this commemorative beer a truly handcrafted complexity.

On the lighter side of things, we’ve also got Anchor Summer Beer and Ballast Point’s Yellowtail Pale Ale.  Keep your ear to the ground for our upcoming Ballast Point Night, which will feature a cask of Sculpin!

Believe it or not, we’ve got 3 different varieties of Stone IPA on right now.  There’s the regular old standby Stone IPA, then the cask version with Columbus and Amarillo, and the very special, very limited Stone Double Dry Hopped IPA.  This is on tap, not cask, and there’s no word on which hops they dry hopped with.  Guess they want to keep it a secret!  If Victory hadn’t already coined the name, we would call this beer a hop wallop!

While we’re on this hop trip, we should also let you know we got a fresh keg of Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA, named for Toronado owner David Keene, who’s also immortalized on Anderson Valley’s Brother David’s Double and Tripel.

Moving right along, from a little further north we’ve got Bitch Creek ESB on tap from Grand Teton Brewing (Idaho).

temptationAnd last but not least, yesterday we just tapped a keg of Russian River Temptation, a Blonde Ale aged in French oak chardonnay barrels with Brettanomyces.

If you’re looking for a good intro to sour beers, you can’t miss this!

None of these kegs are expected to last through the night, so if there’s anything you’re dying to try, you better get here early!

Cheers & have a good weekend

The Einhorn Pilsner just kicked, and in it’s place, we’ve put on Russian River Damnation.  Check back soon for Einhorn’s Hefeweizen, which will probably go on at the beginning of next week.

On cask we’ve got Stone’s Levitation w/ Coriander, and on deck (probably going on by Friday evening or Saturday) we’ve got Ruination w/ Columbus and Chinook.
Game 1 starts tonight at 6:00pm.  See you here!

Beer List For This Weekend and St. Patricks Day

Daily Pint | March 13, 2009

Tonight we’ll be putting on a cask of Stone’s Cali-Belgique.  As the weekend goes on, we’ve got a bunch of beers that will be rotating through.  One things for certain, right now is a great time for hopheads.

Port Brewing has sent up another keg of Hop-15, which never lasts long, and from Bear Republic we’ve got Racer 5 and Hop Rod Rye.  Also coming in is another keg of Russian River’s Blind Pig.

If you haven’t tried it yet, this weekend is also a great chance to try Oskar Blues’ Gordon, which the brewery describes as a cross between a Double IPA and an Imperial Red.

Rounding out our special taps this weekend are Lost Abbey’s Serpent Stout, and Port Brewing’s Old Viscosity.

Tuesday the 17th we are putting on some special beers for St. Patricks Day.  We’ll have Wexford Cream Ale, and three Irish beers from Norcal favorite, Moylan’s Brewing.

We’ll have their Irish Red, Dragoon Dry Stout, and Tipperary Pale on tap.

(Pictured: Moylan’s Brewmaster Denise Jones loves the hops.  Loves ‘em.)

Also, here’s a link to the Official Facebook Event Page, where you can RSVP and invite your friends.

Valentine’s Weekend at the Daily Pint

Daily Pint | February 11, 2009

We finally received that keg of Consecration that was so conspicuously absent from last week’s Russian River night.  Starting this Friday the 13th, we’ll have Consecration, plus the My Bloody Valentine that we’ve been holding on to.  From Lost Coast, makers of Great White and Downtown Brown, we’ll be rotating through a keg of their new Tangerine Wheat, and in preparation for next week’s Coronado Cask Night, you’ll also have a chance to try their Idiot IPA.
