LA Beer Week – Ballast Point Returns to the Pint on Friday
The Pint once again welcomes the Ballast Point crew to Santa Monica this Friday for LA Beer Week. They'll be bringing up some fantastic beers. This may very well be the first time Los Angeles has seen the holy IPA trinity of Big Eye, Sculpin, and Dorado all on tap at the same time.
Also being tapped are a keg of Bourbon Barrel Aged Sea Monster Stout, and a cask of Bourbon & Chocolate aged Black Marlin Porter. And if we're lucky, maybe they'll bring some of their spirits along!
Daily Pint Goes to Asia
Summer is almost here, and that means it's time for a vacation.
First up, India. We're pouring a keg of Avery Maharaja, a big IPA with a heavy, grapefruity hoppiness. This beer weighs in at 10.24%, but drinks like it's 6%. You'll finish this one before you've started. Appease your colonial overlords and wash it down with some Firestone Union Jack, another worthy IPA.

Take off your turban and pop on your fez, next we travel to Russia.
Now on tap: Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2009. A beer that needs no introduction. It's worth mentioning that in the back, we've got a few vintage bottles from previous years. Ask Llan or Phil, and we can pull one out for you and throw it in the fridge.
After this one kicks, we've got one more keg of IRS, and we might try and hold on to it for a while. Sure, we'd love to break it out in 2014, but we just don't have the facilities to store beer for that long. How long do you think we should wait before we put on our last keg of 2009 IRS? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts.
Get in here and drink some of the IRS we've got on now so you can taste the difference in a few months.
ON CASK RIGHT NOW:
Stone Pale w/ Coriander
Stone Self Righteous w/ Columbus & Amarillo
Weekend Stone Cask Update

Right now we've got Oaked AB on cask, along with some Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean. That stuff never lasts long, so once it's gone, we've got a couple more Stone casks ready to go. Waiting to be tapped are Stone IPA with Amarillo, and the cask version of Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale w/ Columbus hops added (like it really needs more hops). This is a black IPA that was brewed as their 11th Anniversary Ale, but they liked it so much, they thought they'd give it a new name and brew more.
Also, don't forget about tonight's Irish Whisky tasting. If the turnout is anything like December's Single Malt Scotch tasting, you'll want to get here early!
BEER EVENT: Coronado Cask Night
This coming Friday the 20th, the Daily Pint is very lucky to receive 3 casks from Coronado Brewing Company's British Series.
At 6pm, we will be tapping the following cask ales:
Skipper's Best Bitter – 5.2% ABV
Piccadilly Porter – 5.5% ABV
Admiral's IPA – 7.0 % ABV
These beers are very limited, and who knows when you'll have the chance to try them again. The Coronado brewpub website doesn't even have them listed! See you at the Pint.
