Smoked Porters in June? Sure, why not!
Daily Pint | June 2, 2009
Some people make a big deal out of only drinking lighter beers like hefs and pilsners when the weather gets warmer. But we think that’s a bit silly. Stouts and porters are great to drink any time of year!
Just because Alaskan Smoked Porter is released every winter doesn’t mean we can’t hold on to a keg for a few months and tap it when we’re ready for a change. Right now is a great time for enjoying a tasty porter.
Also on tap right now is Stone’s Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean. Talk about two complete opposite ends of the spectrum. While the Vanilla Bean Smoked Porter has a milky, rich ice cream taste to it, the Alaskan Smoked Porter really brings the smoke, rauchbier style.
To make this beer, the malts are smoked in small batches in a commercial food smoker using Alaskan alder wood. This award winning beer is one of the best American-made examples of the classic German rauchbier.
